FIA not impressed by Ferrari's threat to quit F1

The FIA has issued a statement after the threats of the Scuderia Ferrari to quit Formula One over the planned introduction of stanard engines in 2010. In the statement the FIA claims that the onus is on the teams, not the governing body, to come up with better cost-cutting regulations.

McLaren Mercedes' team principal Ron Dennis declared that his team will rather win the title for Lewis Hamilton than winning the Constructors' Championship. Hamilton currently leads the standings with seven points more than Massa and this as Ferrari is eleven points ahead of McLaren.

Interlagos is a circuit of contrasting extremes, combining slow hairpins with one of the longest straights of the season. Sitting in a natural bowl, it undulates throughout its 4.309 km length, and is notorious for its bumpy surface – although this was improved by resurfacing in 2004, and again last year.

Interlagos, the technical challenge

The high altitude and a bumpy track surface provide the two biggest engineering challenges at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace. At 800 metres above sea level, the reduced atmospheric pressure at the circuit reduces engine power and has a negative effect on aerodynamic performance.
